Publisher Gene reunites cheerful illustrator Josh(ua) and petty workaholic author Kate to write a sequel to the imaginative children’s book that launched their separate careers while still youth buddies. He has a hard time rekindling ‘childish’ creativity as she’s stuck in boring ‘professionalism’. Joshua’s delight about a company proposing to merchandise the characters from his franchise becomes a dilemma as it turns out his contract enables them, even without his consent, to alter his brain children needlessly ‘modernized’. A fashion photographer meanwhile recruits rescue services professionals as one-off models, and potential fuck buddies, including an ingrate naive cop, and her partner gets a shot at performing as self-accompanied singer.
